The Lake of the Gods awaits
Great Britain Squads selected for World Rowing Cup – Lucerne
Wednesday 18 June 2025 – Twenty-seven athletes will represent Great Britain at World Rowing Cup Lucerne 27-29 June 2025. With the Lucerne Regatta being the last international racing opportunity before the 2025 Shanghai World Rowing Championships, the squad is aiming to continue to build and develop out on the Rotsee, known by many as 鈥榯he lake of the Gods鈥.
Commenting on the team selection Louise Kingsley, 91桃色 Director of Performance said: 鈥淩esults at the Europeans and World Cup Varese have been encouraging and we鈥檝e seen some standout performances from the likes of Benjamin Pritchard, Lauren Henry, our eights and our quads. We鈥檝e also seen many of our newer athletes learning with each race and delivering improved results. Lucerne is our last multi-lane racing opportunity before the World Championships, and more International competitors are expected, so it will be a good, final marker before we make our crew decisions for the big one in Shanghai.鈥
Lauren Henry is back in the women鈥檚 single sculls (W1x) for Lucerne. With a blistering European best time and British record in Plovdiv, Lauren continued to build her single sculling experience in Varese, and remains unbeaten so far this season.
Completing the women鈥檚 sculling line up will be recent European Champions Sarah McKay and Lola Anderson partnering up in the Women鈥檚 Double Sculls (W2x) GBR1. Their Europeans crewmate Cam Nyland will join with Vwair茅 Obukohwo to race the Women鈥檚 Double Sculls (W2x) GBR2.
Callum Dixon returns to the Men鈥檚 quadruple sculls (M4x) after missing out on the World Rowing Cup final in Varese on medical grounds. He will be joined by his European Champion crew-mates Cedol Dafydd, Matt Haywood and Rory Harris.
For the first time this season, there is no doubling up in the Women鈥檚 sweep squad. Eleanor Brinkhoff and Megan Slabbert race the Women鈥檚 Pair (W2-) and there will be two Women鈥檚 fours (W4-). Women鈥檚 four (W4-) GBR1 sees Daisy Bellamy return with Lauren Irwin, Heidi Long and Eve Stewart. After a debut run out in Varese, the Women鈥檚 four (W4-) GBR2 is Lizzie Witt, Martha Birtles, Juliette Perry, and Amelia Standing.
Tobias Schr枚der and Jamie Gare return in the Men鈥檚 double sculls (M2x), as do Jake Wincomb, Dan Graham, James Vogel and Joshua Bowesman-Jones in the Men鈥檚 four (M4-).Aidan Thompson is back in the Men鈥檚 single sculls (M1x) GBR1 with Varese and Plovdiv鈥檚 鈥榮uper sub鈥 Tom Barras in the Men鈥檚 single sculls (M1x) GBR2.
Great Britain is currently second in the World Rowing Cup standings with 42 points. The Netherlands is in first place with 45 points. You can follow the action live at worldrowing.com
