Back in 2024, Northampton RC set an ambitious fundraising goal of 拢40,000 to purchase new double and single sculls and other equipment. The club received 25% of their target through funding via a grant from Sport England and the National Lottery. The remaining funds were raised through local donations and sponsorships, as well as incredible organisations including the (拢6,500), (拢3,900) and in nearby Wellingborough, enabling the club to smash its target at over 拢43,000!

Representatives from sponsors joined Northampton Rowing Club crews on Saturday, 25 January for a boat naming ceremony at the boathouse.

The club has grown significantly in recent years; the junior squad alone now numbers over 25 members. Their current fleet of boats, of which some are over 35 years old, is used up to four times a week, and the demand for new boats has become critical as the club continues to expand. The new boats will support the club鈥檚 development and provide the much-needed equipment for the growing number of junior and adult rowers.

Talking about her experience at the club, one of the junior squads said, 鈥淚 was never really able to find anything that I enjoyed enough to stick at, but the opportunity to try rowing at Northampton Rowing Club came up, and I went down for a 鈥榯aster session鈥, and I enjoyed it right away! I鈥檝e made so many new friends and feel more confident in myself.鈥

Northampton Rowing Club is extremely grateful for all of the local support. They are continually fundraising for new equipment; you can , or for more information on how to contribute or sponsor the club, please contact [email protected].
