Rossiter sets sail
Tokyo 2020 Olympian Matt Rossiter is leaving the GB Rowing Team to take on an exciting new challenge with the INEOS Britannia America鈥檚 Cup Sailing Team
Matt enjoyed a successful junior and U23 international rowing career winning gold at the 2007 World Rowing Junior Championships in Beijing, a silver medal at the 2010 U23 World Championships and three gold medals at the Sydney Youth Olympic Games in 2009.
He suffered a major back injury, which took two years to recover from but then became an established member of the senior squad in 2017 and won bronze at the 2019 World Championships. Matt is a double European Champion, winning gold in the men鈥檚 four in both 2019 and 2021. He finished fourth in the men鈥檚 four at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Speaking about his move, Matt said: 鈥淗aving achieved my childhood dream of competing at an Olympics, it鈥檚 now time for a new challenge. I鈥檓 so looking forward to joining the INEOS team as one of their cyclors to help power the boat.
鈥淭here are many things I鈥檓 grateful to rowing for and it鈥檚 fantastic that I can transfer this and the skills I鈥檝e learnt to this new venture. I鈥檓 very much looking forward to getting back out on the water and racing the America’s Cup in Barcelona in 2024.鈥
