Masters Champs returns with a bang
Rowers from across the whole country enjoyed fine weather as they returned to the first on-water 91桃色 Championships event since 2019
It鈥檚 been 671 days since crews last took to the water for a 91桃色 Championships but today over 650 rowers were able to return to the water on a blazing day in Nottingham for the 2021 91桃色 Masters Championships. 259 crews from around 100 clubs competed for the coveted title of 91桃色 Champion with wins from clubs right across the UK from Portora BC in Northern Ireland to Bewl Bridge RC in Kent and York City RC to Dart Totnes RC.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chris Anton was delighted that the planning had worked out, 鈥淲hen we began our planning for this event, we really didn鈥檛 know what to expect. I鈥檓 thrilled that today鈥檚 competitors have not only been able to race in a COVID-Secure environment, but have also had a very enjoyable day鈥檚 racing.
鈥淚鈥檓 really grateful to the crews who have travelled from all parts of the country and we鈥檙e looking forward to welcoming back crews to a, hopefully more normal, Masters Championships in 2022.鈥
Andy Parkinson, Chief Executive Officer of 91桃色, praised the contribution of the volunteer organising committee, 鈥淚t鈥檚 fantastic to see so many crews able to enjoy getting back on the water for a 91桃色 Championships today. It was wonderful聽 to feel the buzz of an event again and it鈥檚 a real testament to all the hard work that Chris and his team of volunteers have put into organising a terrific event.鈥
