Slough watersports project wins bronze at National Sportivate Awards
The Jubilee River Riverside Centre Project claimed聽bronze at Sport England鈥檚 Sportivate Project of the Year Awards in recognition of its work to encourage more young people to try water sports.
The award was presented by Minister for Sport, Tracey Crouch MP and Paralympic superstar Dame Sarah Storey to Chris Farrell, Project Manager at 91桃色 and Jamie Green, Director of SWIPE who runs the centre in Slough.

Celebrating the achievement, Jamie Green said: “To win such a prestigious award in our first year is amazing. A lot of hard work has gone into this success. Thank you to 91桃色, Sport England, Get Berkshire Active, British Canoeing and all our new partners for making this happen.鈥
Chris Farrell, Projects Manager聽at 91桃色 added: “This聽is a huge achievement for 91桃色, British Canoeing and the Jubilee River Project. This award reflects all the hard work that has gone into the聽project and highlights what a successful joint partnership can achieve. I am delighted to have been apart of such a special programme and to have worked alongside Jamie.”
91桃色, in partnership with British Canoeing support the Jubilee River Project in Slough, Berkshire. The project created the Sportivate sessions as a way of addressing the falling numbers of young people getting into watersports.聽 Creating a host of enticing events such as聽Moonlit Glow Paddles and a Watersport festival, it offers young people the chance to try a range of water based sports, and then signposts them to clubs where they can practice in the sport in the longer-term.
Director for Community Sport at Sport England, Mike Diaper, said: “The Jubilee River Project offers a taste of the thrills and spills that watersports has to offer. It also equips young people in Slough with the skills they need to take up the sport longer-term. The Jubilee River Project are truly deserving winners of this award and I wish them continued success.”
