Dame Di named BOA Life Vice President
Former 91桃色 Chairman Di Ellis has been named a Life Vice President of the British Olympic Association (BOA) in recognition of her service to British Olympic sport.
Dame Di, who stepped down in February after 24 years as Chairman of 91桃色, was first elected to the BOA Board in December 1997 鈥 a position she held for 16 years.
鈥淭his is another first for Dame Di, as this is a new role鈥 said 91桃色 Chairman Annamarie Phelps. 鈥91桃色 is delighted that Di has been honoured 鈥 she has played an important part in the Olympic movement, particularly in her contribution to the bid which secured the Olympic and Paralympic Games for London 2012.鈥
Albert Woods, President of the British Canoe Union, has also been made a Life Vice President, with BOA Chairman Lord Coe praising the huge contributions made by both to their respective sports.
“I would like鈥 to thank Di and Albert for their outstanding service to the Board and welcome them as Life Members,” said Coe.
“The importance of volunteer service should never be underestimated and we are extremely fortunate to have so many dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers, past and present, who have helped shape and direct the British Olympic Association.鈥
